We call ourselves the Washington church of Christ because it identifies our location, the Washington Borough in NJ, and who we are: the church (the called out) who belong to Christ.​ And it is that simple.

We are not a denomination, nor are we any part of one, as no present-day denomination can be found in God’s word.  We choose, rather, to pattern ourselves after the church we can read about in the New Testament; the church our Lord established.

We are the called out who, in response to God's grace and mercy, were given the opportunity to answer the gospel call, to come out of the darkness of sin into His marvelous light.  As a result, we want to live lives that will proclaim His praises for saving us through the shed blood of His Son (1st Peter 2:9). And we would encourage you to do the same.

The appeal we make is not to join the Washington church of Christ, but to come to Christ, to follow and commit yourself to Him. It is in your doing so that we hope you would find us doing the same and we could help one another make heaven our home.
